POSITION SUMMARY

Maintain plant, office buildings and grounds to ensure that buildings and grounds are clean and well cared for.  Will perform routine maintenance of equipment and make minor repairs to premises and furnishings.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED:

General supervision: routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow employee to proceed alone with routine work; work is occasionally checked while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Clean all rooms, halls, offices, and restrooms. Vacuum, clean, mop, and wax floors.   Dust furniture and equipment.  Clean windows, empty trash baskets, and arrange furniture and equipment.
2. Perform routine maintenance including replacing light bulbs, light fixtures and plumbing fixtures and make simple repairs to furnishings as needed.
3. Maintain clean and orderly supply rooms, kitchen and meeting areas and break rooms. Order cleaning supplies and paper products.  Stock restrooms and kitchen areas with appropriate paper products.
4. Operate powered and motorized equipment such as bobcats, snowplows, mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
5. Mow and edge lawns using power mowers and edgers. Care for established lawns by maintaining sprinkler systems, mulching, aerating, weeding, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
6. Clear snow from walks, driveways, and parking lots. Spread salt or sand in areas when they are icy.
7. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and other grounds features.
8. Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures using hand and power tools.
9. Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
10. Monitor and schedule routine maintenance for heating and cooling systems. Make adjustments as necessary.
